About Us

ABD Federal Credit union was chartered in October of 1947 to operate as a credit union for Briggs Manufacturing employees. The ABD acronym came from the credit union representing the Auto Beauty Division of Briggs Manufacturing. Eventually Briggs was bought out by Chrysler Corporation and came to represent Chrysler employees. Mack Stamping was the first Chrysler owned facility represented by ABD. Our first office was on Mack Avenue in Detroit and the first person to become a member was Ken Morris, formerly of Region 1B.

In 1967 the office on Mound Road was constructed and became the main office.  We currently have an office in Warren, Detroit and Belvidere, IL.  We’ve absorbed several credit unions including McGraw Glass, Indianapolis Foundry, Belvidere, Mt Elliott and CJ Federal.  From humble beginnings on Mack Avenue serving only the Mack Stamping and Vernor Tool & Die plants, ABD has grown.  We now serve Belvidere (Illinois), Jefferson North Assembly (JNAP), Mack Engine, Marysville, Sterling Heights Assembly (SHAP), Sterling Stamping, Transportation, the WCM Academy (Training Center) and many other FCA Plants.

ABD has weathered many storms over the years associated with the ups and downs of Chrysler. Despite those travails, the credit union has endured and today is a highly successful provider of financial services to FCA employees.

We are a full-service financial institution.  We offer loans for everything, from mortgages to vacations, from auto loans to recreational loans.  We offer services, from Share Savings accounts to CD’s and competitive rate credit cards, convenient debit and ATM cards along with 24 hour, 7 days a week access to accounts though telephone banking, online banking and the ABD Mobile App.

Our staff is committed to serving the community. We’ve participated in March of Dimes walks, Habitat for Humanity building projects, Toys for Tots, the Capucin Soup Kitchen and partnered with the Nancy Boykin Continuing Education School for Teenage Mothers. Each year ABD also gives teddy bears to the Detroit and Hamtramck fire departments to pass out to children of fires to relieve their trauma. These are just a few among many community outreach projects that we are passionate about.

At ABD Federal Credit Union, it is our objective to promote the financial well-being of our membership by providing the highest quality financial services available.  We’re people, helping people and that’s, "Banking Made Better"!
