Our Guidelines

ABD Federal Credit Union uses social media to share credit union news, financial education, community activities, career information, product and service updates, and other information that may be helpful to our members and communities.
We welcome respectful questions, comments, and conversations on our official social media pages. These guidelines outline how visitors should participate and how ABD Federal Credit Union may manage content posted to those pages.


Public Nature of Social Media

ABD Federal Credit Union’s social media pages are public. Information posted publicly may be viewed, copied, shared, or stored by others.
Comments and other content posted by visitors reflect the views of the individuals who submitted them. They do not necessarily reflect the views, policies, practices, or endorsements of ABD Federal Credit Union.
Please consider your privacy and security before posting anything online.

Help Us Maintain a Respectful Community

When interacting with ABD Federal Credit Union or other visitors, please do the following:

  • Communicate respectfully and courteously.
  • Keep comments relevant to the post or discussion.
  • Share accurate information in good faith.
  • Post only content you created or have permission to use.
  • Respect the privacy, intellectual property, and legal rights of others.
  • Follow the terms and community standards of the applicable social media platform.
  • Protect your personal, financial, and confidential information.

Content Moderation

ABD Federal Credit Union may, at its discretion, review, hide, restrict, report, or remove content if it:

  • Contains profanity, obscenity, sexually explicit material, or inappropriate language, including disguised or intentionally misspelled profanity.
  • Threatens, intimidates, stalks, harasses, or encourages harm against any person, group, business, or organization.
  • Contains personal attacks, defamatory statements, abusive language, or inflammatory material.
  • Promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or another status protected by law.
  • Contains private, confidential, personally identifiable, or financial information.
  • Appears fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, or intended to facilitate phishing, identity theft, account takeover, or another scam.
  • Impersonates ABD Federal Credit Union, an ABD representative, another organization, or another individual.
  • Includes spam, repetitive posts, chain messages, unauthorized advertising, solicitations, or unrelated promotional material.
  • Contains malicious software, suspicious links, harmful code, or instructions designed to compromise a person, account, device, or network.
  • Infringes a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, right of publicity, privacy right, or other proprietary right.
  • Encourages illegal activity or violates applicable laws, regulations, court orders, or platform rules.
  • Disrupts the purpose of the page or is unrelated to the discussion.
  • Includes information about an active legal, regulatory, personnel, security, fraud, or confidential business matter that should not be discussed publicly.

ABD Federal Credit Union may limit or block access for individuals or accounts that repeatedly violate these guidelines. Serious threats, suspected fraud, or potentially unlawful conduct may be reported to the social media platform or to the appropriate authorities.
Moderation decisions are not intended to verify the accuracy of all published content. The presence of a comment does not indicate that ABD Federal Credit Union has reviewed, approved, or endorsed it.

Protecting Your Personal and Financial Information

Never post or send sensitive information in a public comment or on social media. This includes:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Account or member numbers
  • Debit or credit card numbers
  • Personal identification numbers
  • Passwords
  • Online or mobile banking credentials
  • Security-question answers
  • One-time verification codes
  • Copies of identification documents
  • Private addresses, telephone numbers, or email addresses
  • Information belonging to another person

ABD Federal Credit Union will not ask you to disclose your password, personal identification number, full Social Security number, complete card number, or one-time verification code in a public social media conversation.
Content containing sensitive information may be removed to help protect the individual who posted it. However, removing content does not guarantee that another person did not view, copy, or retain the information before its removal.

Member and Account Assistance

Social media is not a secure banking channel. ABD Federal Credit Union cannot access, discuss, or resolve specific account matters through public posts.
For assistance with an account, transaction, loan, card, online banking access, suspected fraud, or another private matter:

  • Visit the Contact Us section of the ABD Federal Credit Union website.
  • Call ABD Federal Credit Union’s Main Branch at 586-751-4400.
  • Visit the Online Banking Login section of the ABD Federal Credit Union website, log in, and send us a message in the Messages tab.
  • Visit an ABD Federal Credit Union branch.

Do not use social media for urgent, time-sensitive, or emergency requests. A post, tag, mention, or direct message does not constitute formal notice to ABD Federal Credit Union, and a response is not guaranteed.

Security and Impersonation Warning

Fraudsters may create accounts, pages, messages, advertisements, or websites that resemble legitimate financial institutions.
Before responding to an account claiming to represent ABD Federal Credit Union:

  • Confirm that the account is linked from the official ABD Federal Credit Union website.
  • Do not click suspicious or unexpected links.
  • Do not send money, credentials, verification codes, or sensitive documents.
  • Report suspected impersonation to the social media platform and ABD Federal Credit Union.

ABD Federal Credit Union is not responsible for communications originating from fraudulent or unauthorized accounts.

Copyright, Trademarks, and Other Rights

You are responsible for the content you submit. By posting content to an ABD Federal Credit Union social media page, you represent that:

  • You created the content or have authorization to publish it.
  • Your submission does not violate another party’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or legal rights.
  • Your submission complies with the applicable platform’s terms.

ABD Federal Credit Union’s name, logos, designs, slogans, graphics, and other brand elements may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used in a manner that suggests authorization, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement without written permission.
Your content remains subject to your rights and the applicable platform’s terms. By voluntarily submitting content to an ABD Federal Credit Union page, you authorize ABD Federal Credit Union to display, respond to, and use the platform’s standard sharing or reposting features for that content.
Any broader use of visitor-created content in advertising or promotional materials will be governed by applicable permissions, platform terms, and law.

Third-Party Content and External Links

ABD Federal Credit Union may share links or content created by third parties when the information may be useful to members or visitors.
A link, mention, reaction, follow, repost, or share does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of the third party or its views, products, services, security practices, or privacy practices.
When you leave an ABD Federal Credit Union page or website, you are subject to the terms, privacy notices, security practices, and accessibility policies of the external platform or website. ABD Federal Credit Union does not control or assume responsibility for third-party content or services.

Promotions, Contests, and Giveaways

Promotions, contests, sweepstakes, or giveaways conducted on an ABD Federal Credit Union social media page may be subject to separate official rules.
The official rules will prevail if they conflict with these community guidelines. Unless specifically stated in the official rules, social media platforms do not sponsor, administer, endorse, or manage ABD Federal Credit Union promotions.
Never provide sensitive account or identity information in response to a promotion offer.

Sponsored and Paid Content

ABD Federal Credit Union may occasionally collaborate with community partners, vendors, creators, organizations, or other parties on sponsored content.
Paid or sponsored relationships should be disclosed using appropriate terms, which may include “sponsored,” “paid partnership,” or “advertisement,” when required.
The presence of sponsored content does not change the privacy and security precautions visitors should observe.

Financial Information Disclaimer

Information provided on ABD Federal Credit Union’s social media pages is intended for general informational and educational purposes.
Social media content:

  • Is not individualized financial, legal, tax, investment, or insurance advice.
  • Does not modify an account agreement, loan agreement, disclosure, policy, or other governing document.
  • Is not a guarantee of eligibility, approval, availability, pricing, savings, earnings, or future results.
  • May become outdated after publication.

Products, services, rates, annual percentage rates, annual percentage yields, fees, terms, eligibility requirements, and availability are subject to change. Applicable account agreements, disclosures, and official ABD Federal Credit Union materials govern these terms.

Employment and Representative Statements

Statements posted by ABD Federal Credit Union employees or representatives on personal social media accounts do not necessarily reflect official credit union positions.
Only content published through an authorized ABD Federal Credit Union account or an official ABD Federal Credit Union communication channel should be considered an official social media statement.

Media and Business Inquiries

Members of the media and organizations seeking information, interviews, partnerships, sponsorships, or other business communications should contact ABD Federal Credit Union via the official Contact Us page.
Social media comments and messages are not formal channels for submitting legal notices, subpoenas, regulatory communications, complaints requiring formal handling, or for service of process.

Platform Terms and ABD Policies

Participation on an ABD Federal Credit Union social media page is also subject to:

  • The applicable social media platform’s terms and community standards
  • ABD Federal Credit Union’s Privacy Policy
  • ABD Federal Credit Union’s Security information
  • ABD Federal Credit Union’s website disclosures and terms

When requirements conflict, applicable law and the controlling account or service agreements will govern.

Changes to These Guidelines

ABD Federal Credit Union may revise these community guidelines periodically. Changes take effect when the updated guidelines are published unless another effective date is specified.
Continued participation on an ABD Federal Credit Union social media page after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the revised guidelines.
